Our world changed enormously with the entrance of the internet, multiple new forms of information/communication instantly were at our fingertips.  I wonder how to transport that wonderful expanse of knowledge effectively into the classroom.  We could talk about how to fund the equipment, how to make teachers proficient, but I feel the great challenge come in the word effectively.  Do we want to substitute one tool for another, provide motivation, or truly take students to a new level on how to think, and communicate.  Hmmm, what a challenge!

For the first time in many years Carrie Martin had an empty room that we turned into the ‘Tiger Learning Center’.  It provides literacy interventions for literacy plus, resource, and intensive learning services’ students.  My hope is for it to be viewed as an intervention room and not a sp. ed. room.  Kept your fingers crossed for us!

What a wonderful new toy the IPAD is!  I have spent the night downloading apps and my first ITune song “We are the world”.  I really like the new version for Haiti.   I can’t wait to play on it more!

My goals are: 1) to build a professional network, 2) learn how to create wikki spaces and blogs, and 3) utilize my ipad to increase my flexibility as a leader – observations, reading articles, etc.

I became a part of iLead because I need to become a leader at my school in technology.  Technology is the future for our students and our world.  I know I have a long way to go but everyone has to start somewhere.  Sheryl
